Earlier, BlackBerry had announced that the QWERTY Keypad smartphone BB Q10 will soon hit the market along with teaser snapshots. Now keeping true to its promise, RIM has reportedly begun sending press invites for the Q10 launch which is scheduled in New Delhi on 6 June.
Before the company could officially launch BB Q10, online shopping martkes have gone ahead to take pre-orders of the QWERTY smartphone without disclosing the final price. BlackBerry fans who are eager to get their hands on the coveted phone can place pre-orders with an advance payment of Rs.1,000.
BlackBerry Q10 has already been launched in UK and in its home market Canada in late April, and it has made huge sales in these regions with Q10 going out of stock in retail stores within days of its release. The QWERTY smartphone is yet to set its foot in the the US, but there are reports that BlackBerry Q10 is expected hit stores in the region on 6 June, the very same day India will also witness the official launch.
BlackBerry Q10 sports a 3.1-inch HD 328 ppi (pixels per inch) display with QWERTY keypad and it runs on the BlackBerry 10 OS powered by 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor. It packs 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card.
As of now, there are no conclusive reports regarding the price details of BlackBerry Q10, but there are speculations that it might be priced around Rs.30,000.
BlackBerry's first smartphone of the year, the touchscreen BlackBerry Z10, made its India debut in February. Even though the smartphone was praised for its near-flawless features, many panned the company for tagging it with an exorbitant price. In response to the criticism, the company reacted a little late and last week it launched the EMI scheme for BlackBerry Z10 and Curve 9220 to attract middle-class consumers.
